My list of fishing firsts

Valid HTML 4.01!

My first rainbow trout caught in Tasmania, 33cm long weighing 336g landed by a redfin perch Rapala lure. This is my most recent piscatorial achievement.

It was caught just after noon in the crystal clear waters of the upper Leven River at Loongana in the valley below the picturesque Black Bluff, which still had the last remnants of this years (2004), snow season.

Notable initial catches that actually meant anything over the years of catching the usual suspects i.e.

Pebble bulletWhiting
Pebble bulletDart
Pebble bulletBream
Pebble bulletCatfish
Pebble bulletTailor
are included from the most recent first (see photos below):
  1. First Trout caught in Tasmania,
  2. First Trout caught in Victoria,
  3. First Trout ever, caught in New South Wales,
  4. An Eastern Freshwater Cod caught and released,
  5. First European Carp caught and fed to the ants.
Of course there were other memorable catches recorded in my fishing diary such as jagging a 3' Moray Eel in Hervey Bay Queensland, a very tasty freshwater catfish caught in the Condamine River Queensland on shrimp collected from a small stocking net baited with a bar of soap! And then there were the 2 Bream caught in the upper reaches of the Parramatta River in Sydney with hooks baited with my sandwiches of the day - bread, salami, cheese & tomato sauce and the other on bread, garlic devon, cheese & mustard pickles. But alas those were the years when I was usually too drunk to worry about taking photos.
